What is the ruling regarding injury to the pubic region (ʻananah) of a woman or man?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
The injury to the pubic region (ʻananah) of a woman, or the corresponding region of a man, requires *hukūmah* (arbitrary assessment by the jurists) because there is no fixed amount prescribed (*muqaddar*) for it, nor does it have a known equivalent for which a fixed amount is established. If something is taken from this area along with the private parts of the woman or the penis of the man, *hukūmah* is due along with the *diyah* (blood money), similar to when something is taken from the flesh surrounding the nose or lips alongside those specific members.
