Primary text
Regarding self-inflicted injury classified as semi-intentional (*shibh 'amd*), there are two differing opinions on whether it follows the ruling of accidental injury. One opinion holds that it is equivalent to accidental injury because the ruling is the same when the injury is inflicted upon another person. The second opinion maintains that the *aqilah* is not liable because the perpetrator has no excuse, thus resembling a purely intentional injury.
