This ruling is held by Al-Hasan, 'Ata, Al-Zuhri, Al-Nakha'i, Al-Hakam, Hammad, Malik, Al-Shafi'i, and Ishaq. The obligation of expiation is based upon the established legal principle derived from the scenario described.
