How should the valuation of cattle, sheep, and garments be determined for Diyya?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
The required amount from cattle, sheep, or garments must be fixed at twelve thousand dirhams. This sets the value of each cow or garment at sixty dirhams, and each sheep at six dirhams, ensuring all substitutes are equal in value. Similarly, every garment is equivalent to two cloaks, meaning four hundred cloaks are owed.
