If both parties present valid witnesses, and the ruling is to prioritize the witness of the party whose possession is external (outwardly claimed first, or *al-kharij*), then each party is awarded the portion held by the other party.

If the ruling is to prioritize the witness of the party whose possession is internal (inwardly claimed first, or *al-dakhil*), then each party retains what is already in their own possession without needing to swear an oath.
