Primary text

Ownership is ruled for the claimant concerning spun thread derived from his cotton, flour derived from his wheat, or a bird derived from his egg, even without explicit attribution to his possession, provided the origin is testified to. This is because the thread is the essence of the cotton, the flour is fragmented wheat, and the bird is a transformation of the egg; effectively, the testimony asserts these items are still his in substance. This differs from a child or fruit, which are distinct entities from the mother or the tree.
