What is the ruling when two parties claim possession over an item where one holds an end and the other holds the remainder?

Primary text
When two parties contest possession over an item, such as the end of a turban or a sleeve of a shirt, with one holding the end and the other holding the rest, they are considered equal in their claim. This is because the hand holding the end has a claim based on the principle that if the rest of the item were on the ground and someone else contested it, possession would be awarded to the one holding the end. When it is shared between them, they share the claim equally.
