How is the compensation determined for a Zakat collector whose collected funds were lost?

The collector is entitled to receive his wage from the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal). Whether the Zakat was destroyed or not, his compensation is paid from the treasury, regardless of whether this compensation is more or less than the value of the destroyed Zakat.
