Primary text
The liability of a slave entrusted with a deposit follows the same two established rulings concerning a minor. If the ruling adopted is that a minor is not liable for loss (dhaman), then if the entrusted slave damages the deposit, the liability (dhaman) rests upon the slave's neck (meaning the owner is not liable unless the slave is freed or sold). If the ruling adopted is that a minor is liable, then the liability for the deposit rests upon the slave's person (raqabah).
