The consensus among most scholars is that the slain enemy's personal armament (Salab) is not subject to Khums. This view is supported by the statement of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who said, "We used not to apply Khums to the Salab." Furthermore, the Prophet's saying, "Whoever kills an enemy combatant, his Salab belongs to him," implies full ownership, which would be contradicted if it were subject to Khums. Evidence is found in the narration from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) specifically granted the Salab of a man killed on the Day of Hunayn to the killer without applying Khums, as narrated by Sa'id in his Sunan.
