Primary text

The obligatory stipend is only due to an adult male capable of fighting, who is sane, free, and healthy, without an illness that prevents fighting. If a healthy person suffers an illness from which recovery is not expected, such as chronic disease (zamanah), their share of fighting and the stipend is forfeited. If the illness is expected to cease, such as fever, headache, or typhus, the stipend is not stopped, as the person is considered functionally healthy, evidenced by the fact that they cannot appoint a proxy for Hajj like a healthy person. If the recipient dies after the due time for the stipend arrives, their share is passed to their heirs.
