To whom does the share of the Near Relatives (Dhawu al-Qurba) apply after the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him?

The share designated for the Near Relatives (Dhawu al-Qurba) remains established after the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him. God mentioned them among those who receive shares in His Book. The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to grant this share to them. Jubayr ibn Mut'im narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, allocated the share of the Near Relatives to Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib, while leaving Banu Nawfal and Banu Abd Shams out. This narration was recorded by Abu Dawud. Since no abrogation or change regarding this allocation has been established, it must be upheld and acted upon.

Ibn Abbas stated that initially, they believed the share belonged to them, but their people refused this claim. Imam Ahmad adopted the view that the share belongs to the relatives of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in accordance with Ibn Abbas's initial claim that it was rightfully theirs.
