Is a statement of poverty accepted if the claimant appears well-dressed?

If the claimant appears well-dressed or respectable, their statement is still accepted because outward appearance does not necessitate wealth, as supported by the Divine statement: He who is ignorant assumes them to be self-sufficient because of their modesty (Quran 2:273). However, the giver should inform the recipient that the aid provided is from Zakat funds, so that the recipient does not fall under the category of those for whom Zakat is impermissible.
