What is the consequence if a wife, given an option over a fixed period, exercises her choice on an earlier day?
Chapter on Explicit Divorce and Others

Primary text
If the option was granted for a connected period (e.g., today, tomorrow, and the day after) and she rejects the option on the first day, the entire arrangement is nullified. This is because it constitutes a single option within a defined span, so the invalidation of the beginning invalidates what follows, similar to the option of condition (*khiyar al-shart*) or the option of a freed slave woman (*khiyar al-mu'taqah*).

The ruling differs when the husband states, 'Choose yourself today, and choose yourself tomorrow,' where these are two distinct options, each established by an independent cause, so the invalidation of one does not affect the other.
