If a man makes such a pronouncement (e.g., promising divorce upon speaking) three times to a wife who is irrevocably divorced (bā'in), she is divorced upon the second utterance, and nothing occurs on the third. If the husband renews the marriage contract (jadada nikāḥahā), and then repeats the condition, or says, "If you speak, you are divorced," no divorce occurs because the condition for divorce was stipulated after her separation from him.
