Primary text

She is prevented from marrying another until the divorce is legally established because, on the surface of the ruling, she is still the wife of that divorcing husband. If she marries another, she is subject to legal punishment and must be returned to the first husband, resulting in her simultaneously having two husbands, one based on outward appearance and the other on the inner reality. She is not permitted to leave the city, as this strengthens the suspicion of her being in a state of disobedience (nushuz).

Supporting text

Regarding the issue of self-defense resulting in death, if she intended only to defend herself and death resulted, there is no sin or financial liability (daman) inwardly (in the hidden reality). However, outwardly, she is treated according to the ruling of killing unless her truthfulness in self-defense is proven.
