Primary text

If a man states to his wife, 'You are divorced if I do not have intercourse with you today,' and also states, 'You are divorced if I perform ghusl (ritual washing) after contact with you today,' the husband should pray Asr, then have intercourse with her. If the sun sets and he has not performed ghusl, this implies he did not intend the word 'ghusl' to mean the act of intercourse itself, thus avoiding the divorce condition based on the sequence of actions.
