Primary text

If the husband says to his wife, who is one of the category possessing specified cycles (dhawat al-quru'), 'You are divorced with one divorce in every cycle (qur')', one divorce occurs in each cycle. If the pronouncement occurs during a cycle, one divorce takes effect immediately, and two more divorces take effect in the following two cycles, regardless of whether the 'cycle' is interpreted as menses or as a period of purity (tuhur). This ruling applies whether the wife has been consummated (madkhul biha) or not. However, if she has not been consummated, she becomes irrevocably divorced (tabayyun) by the first divorce. If he remarries her, the second divorce occurs in the second cycle, and the third divorce occurs in the third cycle. The ruling remains the same for the third divorce.
