What is the ruling if a husband says to his wife, 'You are divorced, one divorce, rather, three divorces, if you enter the house,' and he has a specific intent?
Chapter on Divorce by Calculation
Al-Mughni
Book of Divorce
Primary text
If he intended to suspend all pronouncements (one and three) upon her entry into the house, then all are suspended. If he intended to suspend only the three divorces, then one divorce occurs immediately, and the three remain suspended upon her entry into the house.
Supporting text
If he makes no specific declaration regarding the intent, there are two views: one holds that all are suspended upon the condition because the condition follows the entire statement; the other holds that one divorce occurs immediately, and the three remain suspended upon entry, as the condition immediately followed the latter part of the statement, making it specific to that part.
