What is the ruling when a husband says, 'You are divorced tomorrow if Zayd arrives'?
Chapter on Explicit Divorce and Others

Primary text
The divorce does not take effect until Zayd arrives, because 'tomorrow' (*ghadan*) is a term denoting the future, meaning the divorce occurs tomorrow at the time of Zayd's arrival. If Zayd does not arrive tomorrow, the divorce does not occur, even if he arrives afterward, because the divorce was conditional upon an arrival restricted by a condition, and the condition must be fulfilled. If the wife dies tomorrow morning and Zayd arrives after her death, the divorce does not occur because the time stipulated for the divorce did not arrive while she was a subject capable of divorce, similar to the case where she dies before the start of that day.
