Primary text

These phrases are understood as referring to a divorce according to Bid'ah (innovated, non-Sunnah manner). If the utterance occurs during a time considered time of Bid'ah, the divorce according to Bid'ah takes effect. If not, the effect is suspended until a time of Bid'ah arrives.

Supporting text

It has been narrated from Abu Bakr that three divorces occur if one holds that combining three divorces simultaneously is an act of Bid'ah. It is logical that the three divorces should occur during the time of Bid'ah so that it encompasses two forms of deviation (Bid'ah) in divorce, thus constituting the most repulsive divorce.
