Primary text
If a man with two wives, Hafsah and Amrah, says, 'If I swear by divorcing you both, then Amrah is divorced,' and he then repeats the oath, neither woman is divorced. This is because the oath, as stated, applied only to the divorce of Amrah, and the condition requiring swearing by the divorce of both was not met for a full divorce to take effect according to the initial specific phrasing.
