What is the ruling on the phrase 'You are divorced in every cycle' if the wife is a minor girl?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Divorce
Primary text
If the wife is a minor girl, and the interpretation of 'cycle' is the menses, she is not divorced until she menstruates, whereupon one divorce occurs with each menses. If the interpretation of 'cycle' is the period of purity, one divorce takes effect immediately, and she is not divorced again until she menstruates, then purifies, at which point the second divorce occurs, and the third occurs in the following period of purity. This is because the period of purity preceding the menses is considered one complete cycle (qur').
Supporting text
An alternative view is that she is not divorced until she becomes pure following menstruation, because the 'cycle' is defined as the period of purity between two menstrual periods.
