What is the ruling if the wife dies in the morning and Zayd arrives in the afternoon, following the declaration 'You are divorced the day Zayd arrives'?
Chapter on Explicit Divorce and Others

Book of Divorce
Primary text
There are two views. The first view holds that the divorce is established as having occurred from the beginning of that day, analogous to stating, 'You are divorced on Friday,' which implies divorce from the start of Friday; thus, the divorce should take effect at dawn. The preferred view supports this, reasoning that this is not a strict condition but rather a specification of the time when the divorce takes effect, defined by an action occurring within it, meaning it takes effect at its beginning, similar to saying, 'You are divorced on the day we perform the Friday prayer.'

The second view maintains that the divorce does not take effect because its condition, Zayd's arrival, occurred only after the wife's death, unlike the day of Friday where the condition, the arrival of Friday, was met. Here, there are two conditions (the day and the arrival), and one cannot be taken without the other.
