Is a dower (*mahr*) obligatory upon anal intercourse (*wat' fi al-dubur*) or sodomy (*liwat*)?

A dower is not obligatory for anal intercourse or sodomy because the Divine Law has not ordained a substitute (*badal*) for it, nor does it constitute the destruction (*itlaf*) of anything. This act is likened to foreplay or intercourse without penetration of the private parts (*farj*).
