Is reciting portions of the Quran to the wife, only for her to immediately forget them, considered valid teaching?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Dowry (Mahr)
Primary text
If the husband prompts her with the entire text, and every time he prompts her with a verse, she immediately forgets it, this is not counted as valid teaching. Allowing this would lead to a situation where merely reading it to her, causing her to repeat it without memorization, would be considered teaching (talaqqin).
Supporting text
Yet, there is a probability that such immediate prompting is considered teaching because he has effectively prompted her with the verse and she retained it momentarily. However, anything less than a full verse does not constitute teaching under any condition.
