In one established view, the outcome is the same as when the exchange is for the full debt owed: he recovers half of the dower.

In the alternative established view, he recovers nothing. This is because his acceptance of the full dower as consideration, knowing half is nullified by the divorce, means he effectively contracted for only half the amount. Since the divorce also nullifies half, nothing remains outstanding.
