What is the ruling on the Mahr when the guardian is the father?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Dowry (Mahr)
Primary text
If the guardian is the father, whatever he agrees upon with the husband regarding the Mahr—whether it is little or much, or whether the woman is a virgin or previously married, young or old—is valid, as previously established. An example cited is when Prophet Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) married his daughter to Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and they set the Mahr as service for eight years without consulting the wife.
