What is the ruling on the Mahr when the guardian is not the father?

When the guardian is someone other than the father, the consent of the woman and the husband must be taken into account, because the Mahr belongs to the woman as compensation for her benefit (*manfa'ah*), resembling the rent for her house or the dower for her female slave.
