What is the ruling on the *mahr* if the wife is killed?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Dowry (Mahr)
Primary text
If the wife is killed, the entire *mahr* is established (*mustaqirr*). This is because the separation results from death, which terminates the marriage contract, and death does not cause forfeiture of the *mahr*, just as if she died naturally. This applies whether the husband killed her, a third party killed her, she killed herself, or if a master killed his female slave.
