Is stipulating the retrieval of a runaway slave as Mahr valid?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Dowry (Mahr)
Primary text
It is valid to stipulate as Mahr that the husband brings back his wife's runaway slave from a specified location, as this constitutes a known act for which compensation may be received. However, stipulating the retrieval of the slave from any unspecified location is invalid because the task becomes indeterminate (majhul).
