Should non-Muslim subjects be prevented from seeking rain on the day Muslims seek rain?
Chapter on the Prayer for Rain (Istisqa)
Al-Mughni
Book of the Eclipse Prayers (Solar and Lunar)
Primary text
It is argued that they should be prevented from seeking rain on the day Muslims go out, so that it is not assumed that the rain received resulted from their supplication.
Supporting text
This contention is countered because it is possible for rain to descend the day they seek it alone, which would increase their temptation (*fitnah*) and potentially cause others to be tempted by them as well.
