Is performing voluntary (Nafl) prayers permissible during the forbidden times of prayer?

Voluntary prayers are not performed during the forbidden times, irrespective of whether the voluntary prayer has an immediate cause or not. This view is supported by Hassan, 'Ata, 'Ikrimah bin Khalid, Ibn Abi Mulaykah, 'Amr bin Shu'ayb, Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Hazm, Malik, and Abu Hanifah. Ahmad explicitly stated this position. This is the apparent position of the Madhhab.
