Open in Qurani

Primary text

It is recommended for the speaker to face the Qibla during the sermon, based on the narration of Abdullah ibn Zayd that the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned his back to the people and faced the Qibla while supplicating when seeking rain, as reported by Al-Bukhari.

Supporting text

It is recommended to supplicate quietly (secretly) while facing the Qibla to be closer to sincerity, achieve greater humility and submission, and hasten acceptance, citing the verse {Supplicate your Lord humbly and secretly} (Quran 7:55). However, it is also recommended to voice some parts aloud so the people can hear and say Amen to the supplication.
