What is the ruling regarding the lunar eclipse when the moon disappears at night?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Eclipse Prayers (Solar and Lunar)
Primary text
If the moon disappears at night while eclipsed, the Judge (Al-Qadi) holds that the prayer is performed because the time for benefiting from its light and illumination has not ended. An alternative view suggests that the prayer is not performed because the celestial body being prayed for has disappeared, which is analogous to the sun setting.
Supporting text
It is held that the prayer is not performed because the entity necessitating the prayer has disappeared, similar to the case of the sun setting.
