Is the solar eclipse prayer legislated?

The prayer for the solar eclipse (Kusuf al-Shams) is established by the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and there is no known disagreement among scholars regarding its legitimacy. The obligation stems from the Prophet's command: "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of the death or life of anyone. So when you see that, pray." This command applies to both celestial events uniformly.
