What supplication is prescribed when excessive rain causes harm?
Chapter on the Prayer for Rain (Istisqa)

Primary text
When excessive rain causes harm, the supplication should be directed toward moderation. Following the incident where rain caused destruction to livestock and blocked paths, the Prophet (peace be upon him) raised his hands and supplicated, 'O Allah, around us and not upon us. O Allah, upon the plateaus, the hills, the valleys, and where trees sprout.' Following this, the rain ceased, and the people walked out in the sun. This event is Muttafaq 'alayh (agreed upon by major hadith compilers).
