Primary text

The Prayer of Seeking Rain does not have a fixed, specific time. However, it must not be performed during the prohibited times for prayer without exception, as its time frame is broad enough to avoid these periods. It is preferred to perform it at the time of the Eid prayer, based on the narration that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out when the sun began to rise (reported by Abu Dawud). This preference is due to its similarity to the Eid prayer in location and form. Since its time does not pass with the passing of the sun because it lacks a specific day, it lacks a specific time.

A group of scholars, excluding Abu Bakr ibn Hazm, held that the preferred time for its performance is at the sun's zenith (zawal al-shams). This timing is based on scholarly preference, not a religious obligation.
