Primary text

The dedication of property that is not individually specified or determined, such as a slave mentioned generally in liability (fi al-dhimmah), a house, or generic weaponry, is invalid. This is because dedication negates the aspect of ownership in the item, rendering it invalid for an unspecified item, similar to the ruling regarding unconditional manumission (Itaq).
