Is an endowment valid if it specifies duration for the first recipient and then perpetuity for the second?

If a person says, 'This is an endowment for my child for one year, then for the poor,' it is valid. Similarly, if he says, 'This is an endowment for my child for the duration of his life, and after my death, it belongs to the poor,' it is valid because this constitutes an endowment connected in both commencement and termination.
