Primary text

If the price obtained from selling a dedicated horse is insufficient to purchase another dedicated horse entirely, that amount must be applied toward purchasing a partial interest in a dedicated horse. This ruling is explicitly stated by Ahmad. The justification is the necessity of preserving the benefit of the endowment and preventing its loss, which can only be achieved through this method.
