Primary text

Every Companion possessing means established an endowment. Jabir stated that none among the Companions with means failed to establish a Waqf. This practice, being widespread and unchallenged, constitutes scholarly consensus (Ijma'). Examples include Abu Bakr endowing his house to his children, Umar endowing his property at Marwa to his children, and many others establishing endowments for their progeny.

Shurayh, however, did not recognize the Waqf, stating that there should be no suspension (Habs) against the obligations (Fara'id) due to God. Ahmad mentioned this aligns with the school of thought of the people of Kufa.
