Primary text

The distribution must adhere to the standard established for Zakat. The poor and needy receive enough to achieve self-sufficiency (Ghinā). The debtor receives the exact amount to discharge their debt. The indentured slave receives what enables the fulfillment of their contract. The traveler receives what is necessary for their journey, and the warrior receives what is required for the expedition.

Regarding the amount that constitutes self-sufficiency (Ghinā) for the poor, Imam Ahmad, in a narration by Ali ibn Sa'id, stated that if the benefactor specified the needy (Misakin) in the document, the distribution is analogous to Zakat. However, if the benefactor intended it as a voluntary offering (Mutatawwi'), the administrator may give as much as they wish and in the manner they wish. This implies that if the Waqf is stipulated like Zakat, the dispute regarding the measure follows the dispute within Zakat rulings.
