What is the ruling on endowing dedicated war equipment and mounts (Adah)?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Endowments (Awqaf) and Donations
Primary text
War equipment and mounts used for the cause of Allah are valid for endowment. The proof lies in the statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, regarding Khalid: 'As for Khalid, he dedicated his armor and equipment (Adrah) in the cause of Allah.' Al-Atad (equipment) refers to what a man prepares of mounts, weapons, and tools for Jihad. It is also proven that the Prophet, peace be upon him, permitted Umm Ma'qal to ride her husband's dedicated riding animal (Nadheeh) for Hajj, stating that Hajj and Umrah are part of the cause of Allah. This is valid because it establishes the dedication of the original asset while dedicating its usufruct, similar to real estate or a dedicated horse.
