Primary text

Consuming cheese, ghee, whey, dried curd, or kishk does not break an oath sworn not to eat milk. Similarly, consuming butter (zubad) does not break the oath. This point has been explicitly stated.

Supporting text

An alternative view suggests that if butter (zubad) contains discernible milk content, breaking the oath occurs upon consuming it, similar to a situation where one swears not to eat ghee and eats a sweet dish (khabis) containing ghee. This latter view aligns with the position of Al-Shafi'i.
