Does consuming the tail fat (Aliyah) break an oath against eating fat?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Expiations
Primary text
Consuming the tail fat breaks the oath according to the apparent view of Al-Kharqi and his adherents because it is a fat that melts by fire and is sold alongside fat, not with lean meat.
Supporting text
Al-Qadi and his adherents hold that the tail fat is neither fat nor meat, so an oath against abstaining from them is not broken by consuming it.
