Primary text
If the recipient is later found to be a disbeliever or a slave, the obligation is not fulfilled under any known opinion. This ruling is identical to the position regarding Zakat because the status of being a disbeliever or a slave is not typically hidden, nor are they generally assumed to be eligible recipients.
