What is the ruling on freeing a part of a slave owned entirely by the emancipator?

If a slave is entirely owned by the emancipator, and the emancipator frees a specific or undivided portion of that slave, the entire slave is freed. This ruling is established because freeing a part of the slave constitutes freeing the whole slave.
