Primary text
If the owner is indigent and frees their half for the expiation, and subsequently acquires the remaining half and frees it for the expiation, that suffices. However, if the expiation requires fasting for a month or feeding thirty poor persons, freeing one half and then the other half sequentially does not suffice, analogous to freeing half a slave for the expiation of an oath (Yamin) and feeding five poor persons or clothing them, which is insufficient.
