Is speaking during prayer prohibited?

Speaking during prayer is prohibited. This prohibition was revealed after Zayd ibn Arqam observed that they used to speak during prayer until the verse, "And stand up before Allah in obedience" (Quran 2:238) was revealed, commanding silence and prohibiting speech.
